Atlassian are currently rolling out an early access program (EAP) of “Live Edit” for Confluence. This is a more “Notion-like” notion of editing content, where there is a complete blurring between an edit state and a published view state for the content.
Currently there are 2 distinct page states in Confluence:
This is currently reported as contentview
in the custom dimension Content Context.
This is currently reported as a contentedit
in the custom dimension Content Context.
There is only a single state, the “Edit” state (notice the page title on the browser tab)
In this state, there is only ever the “Edit Context”, so the current behaviour of the Google Analytics in Confluence app is to record this as a contentedit
in the custom dimension Content Context.
Expect to see “Content Views” to drop and “Content Edits” to increase if you are part of the early access program (EAP) for Live Edit.
Also expect page histories to stop incrementing or become more confusing.
While the EAP progresses, we will begin to understand the implications of the change to edit context and page history. With this new understanding, we will be able to make some decisions on how to adapt to these changes.
