How we use the Google Analytics user

How we use the Google Analytics user

With Universal Analytics

Each report viewer needs their own Google Analytics account for UA reports.

In the previous version of the app, all reporting was built within the browser, client side. This meant that every user of the reporting functionality in the app required their own Google Analytics account. For users with multiple Google accounts, this could become complicated.

With Google Analytics 4

Only the Confluence administrator needs a Google Analytics account for GA4 reports.

As the app has been rebuilt to add support for Google Analytics version 4, we’ve been able to make some changes to how reports are built.

When viewing GA4 reports in Confluence, users no longer need their own account with direct access to Google Analytics. A Confluence administrator will authenticate with Google Analytics during app configuration and then all users will use the Confluence administrator’s account to access reporting.
